Between the 21 and 26 July 2012, sex workers and allies from 42 countries gathered in Kolkata, India for our Sex Worker Freedom Festival, an alternative conference and protest to the International Aids Conference hosted in Washington. Though sex workers are amongst the key populations whose voices and expertise are needed to win the fight against AIDS, travel restrictions on sex workers and drug users in the U.S meant many of us could not attend the IAC.
